The Hawaiian Philosophy of Life

The word 'Huna' means secret in Hawaiian, and it also refers to the ancient Polynesian wisdom that is said to enable an individual to connect to the ultimate knowledge about life and this world...

Huna Philosophy

Hawaiian philosophy is based on observations of the natural world made by ancestors of present-day Hawaiians in Polynesia tens of thousands of years ago.

Through their observations of flora and fauna they sought to make sense of themselves and the world around them. Eventually these observations were developed into a set of basic “truths” that formed what we today might call a life philosophy. The Hawaiian Huna philosophy of life consists of 7 core principles, which are summarised in this image.
